Abstract

The concept of learning styles, which constitutes an important part of Kolb's experiential learning theory, have an important role in the development of learner-centered curriculum and instructional designs. Kolb's Learning Styles Inventory, which is widely used in the literature, has been transformed from a structure that includes four basic learning styles, namely accommodating, assimilating, converging and diverging to a structure that includes nine learning styles, in line with experimental and clinical research findings. The main purpose of this study was sharing current information on experiential learning theory and the process of determining nine learning styles. In the study, which was structured in the descriptive survey model, the learning styles inventory was administered to 1345 participants reached through the website of the Experiential Training Center, www.demturkey.com. Participants of the study were determined by the unrestricted self-selected sampling method. It was determined that the learning styles of the participants were listed as initiating, acting, experiencing, balancing, reflecting, imagining, analyzing, thinking and deciding, and learning styles of participants differed according to the variables of gender and the age.
