"Managing the School during COVID-19 Pandemic" School Administrators Regarding Phenomenon Metaphorical Perceptions

This study aims to reveal school administrators’ perceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic process through metaphors. The phenomenon (phenomenology) pattern of qualitative research patterns was used in the study. The study group comprises 114 school managers determined according to the maximum variety of sampling methods and serving in Gaziantep. The assortment of the participants is provided with demographic features such as school level, gender, age, education status, and seniority. The resulting data was subject to content analysis. As a result of the analyzes in the COVID-19 pandemic, 114 metaphors produced by school administrators are classified under 11 categories: “managing the crisis, living with uncertainty, being at risk, carrying responsibility, leading, trying in vain, managing change, struggling, not enjoying, lack of authority and heavy workload”. Recommendations were made following the findings.
