Objective: The goal of this quasi-experimental study with a two-group pretest-posttest design is to evaluate the effectiveness of online training on blood product transfusion, complications, and follow-up provided to oncology nurses working in a university hospital. Method: This study was conducted with a total of 73 nurses, 44 in the interventional group and 29 in the control group, working in the oncology service of a University Hospital in Istanbul between March and May 2023, after obtaining written and verbal consent. Nurses in the intervention group were given online training on blood products, transfusion, and monitoring complications. Nurses in the control group were not given any training but were asked to read the educational materials in the clinic. Data were collected with a personal information form and an Information Form. Results: In the study, it was determined that the mean knowledge score of the nurses in the intervention group about blood products, transfusion, complications, and monitoring in the pretest increased statistically significantly in the 2nd week, 1st month, and 3rd month after the training. Conclusion: It is recommended that oncology nurses receive online training in addition to traditional training materials for monitoring blood products, transfusion, and complications, and the effectiveness of the training should be evaluated for more than three months.
